The master entrusts resources “each according to his ability,” showing immediately that the kingdom never punishes unequal starting points. The issue isn’t how much you were given. The issue is what you did with what you were given.
Some people receive much—opportunity, resources, influence, gifts, time. Others receive less according to the world’s standards. But heaven does not measure greatness the way earth does. God is not impressed by quantity. He is honored by faithfulness. The first two servants immediately begin investing because they understand the heart of the master. They know He delights in courage. He smiles upon initiative. He rewards effort. And they live from a place of trust in His character.
But the third servant does something tragic—he buries what was entrusted to him. His reasoning reveals the deeper issue: he misjudges the master. He assumes the master is harsh, unreasonable, ungracious. And what you believe about God will always determine how you serve Him. If you believe God is out to punish you, you will hide. If you believe God is impossible to please, you will shrink back. If you believe God is angry and waiting for your mistakes, you will bury your gifts rather than risk using them.
